What is most dramatic in the view attached to this comment is the presence of many lengthy identical phrases. These show up as long, black strings of words in the diagram... and suggest that Gonzales was deploying carefully rehearsed sound bites. One wonders if he used these phrases most often in response to the questions he felt were most dangerous, where a spontaneous response could get him in trouble. If so, the visualization might help us pick out "trouble spots" in his testimony.

This visualization does not mention that Albert Gonzales fired 8 US Attorneys while Clinton's AG, Janet Reno, fired all 93 US Attorneys. US Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President and he can fire them at any time for any or no reason.
See the visualization "Comparison of recent Attorneys General" here on many eyes: http://services.alphaworks.ibm.com/manyeyes/view/S95RjIsOtha6TME42-VoI2- I will also be adding a few more transcripts: one where Bill Clinton said "I don't recall" or its equivalent 271 times while testifying in the sexual harassment suit that led to his impeachment, and another one where Hillary Clinton said "I don't recall" or equivalent 50 times in a statement to a House investigating committee about her Whitewater scandal. |
