Mercan Topkara: It was very easy to see the clusters in the initial wheel structure, but having it in this form made it easier to understand the smaller groups of friends. |

One wants to make the Ryan/Nicole-bridge apparent. Further, you want to mimize the average length of the edges since long edges are harder to follow. You also want to arrange the graph as “planarly” as possible since intersecting edges look confusing. If edges do intersect, they should do so orthogonaly. Great tool btw! |

I tried to get the more connected people toward the center, and the people with fewer connections to the outside. |

To me Chrisine and Chad look like leaders or influencers (let us call them VPs) — they connect two disjoint groups — so I tried to arrange everyone with respect to that hierarchy (like their direct reports, and reports to direct reports) |

I arranged them all by mystical resonance |

This was hard… Everyone is connected to everyone in a second or third level… |

Did this very quickly. Only made some minor adjustments. Like with the other test. Simply tries to arrange the fewest nubmer of lines crossing. See comments from other tests. |

the best visualization entails no crossings, I have only one. |

Belarius says:
I’m not a fan of crossed lines where they can be avoided, hence the left. On the right, such a solution isn’t possible (that I can see), so keeping things evenly spaced helps avoid confusion. |
