Sounds like Auto(AV)transmission has the worst difference.

But what is AV?

This viz. thinks my mouse cursor is about 150px to the left of where it really is. It makes it hard to use this tool.

I assume AV stands for Variable Transmission. Here's some info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission

Also, that group shouldn't be considered to have the "worst difference." It simply shows that those vehicles get better mileage in the city than highway. You'll notice that that group tends to have some of the larger "boxes." This indicates that they get the best city mpg.

The reason for the large difference in the AV transmission group is that it (I think) incorrectly includes hybrids that use a differential to couple an electric motor and an internal combustion motor. This is not really a variable transmission although it can function as a torque converter. IAC, I would say that "hybrid" should be a separate transmission type.
