Examining how government funds are allocated (between various programs, between states, between communities, etc) can reveal important insights into which programs are most popular, are more influenced by lobbying dollars, illustrate trade-offs, etc. Hopefully, the more this information is scrutinized, the more funding allocations will respond to public concerns, etc.
